Chrysalis Theatre

Fueled by the intersection of theatre, dance and performance art, Chrysalis Theatre is dedicated to training, producing, and touring original dance and theatre works. This dedication has sparked interests in noise music, collage, found text, theatre, dance, gender bending, and site specific performance, resulting in four full-length pieces.

Chrysalis Residency at Mascall Dance

November 29 - 30th, Chrysalis Theatre had the pleasure of developing our new dance piece, Memento during a residency with Mascall Dance in Vancouver.

Memento
is the dance of the memory of a touch and how that touch effects the human body long after it is gone. I used Contact dance techniques as well as Grotowski based physical theatre and Butoh to create the movement, and am looking to perform the piece as a solo this year as a way of dramaturging the form of the piece, as well as testing it on an audience.

See more pictures of the residency below.

Look to this blog for upcoming performances of Memento as well as The Orestia Project, our upcoming theatre piece for Chrysalis Theatre's 2007/2008 Season!
